About MoneyMob Talkabout
MoneyMob Talkabout is a not-for-profit organisation delivering financial literacy education and counselling with and for people in remote Indigenous communities.
Their Money Hub in the APY Lands, provides a one-stop shop for local community members to interact with the broader economy in a safe and supportive environment. Teams also visit other communities in South Australia from Pipalyatjarra to Indulkana providing services on an outreach basis.
On the back of their successful track record of remote service delivery, MoneyMob Talkabout has recently been chosen to run the Mimili Family Wellbeing Centre. This brings a new service under the organisation's umbrella, helping to progress their strategic commitment of influencing change and addressing systemic issues impacting financial and economic well being.
About the Opportunity
MoneyMob Talkabout is actively committed to being an Aboriginal run and led service, as such they strongly encourage experienced and qualified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People to apply for this position.
Due to a period of service expansion, MoneyMob Talkabout now has an opportunity for a Coordinator to join their team, based in Mimili, SA, who will oversee the Family Wellbeing Centre there on a full-time fixed term contract to 30 June 2022.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director and working closely with the community based council and residents, this newly created role will see the successful applicant coordinating the Mimili Family Wellbeing Centre in close collaboration with co-located youth and community support services, employing, supervising and providing professional development opportunities for local Centre staff.
The key areas of responsibility will include, but will not be limited to:
- Facilitating the development of a community led Wellbeing Centre Plan that responds to community needs and prioritises a commitment to Aboriginal economic and social empowerment;
- Completing monthly reports detailing the community services and activities run in accordance with the wellbeing plan;
- Developing appropriate measurement frameworks that can be used to analyse the Centre's effectiveness;
- Facilitating monthly tenant meetings regarding Centre operations and processes that enhance knowledge sharing and collaboration between all stakeholders;
- Communicating effectively with various internal and external stakeholders, including government entities and the local community council to increase confidence in the Centre's programs;
- Identifying and reporting general maintenance on the Centre, and where required, assisting in maintaining the Centres presentation; and
- Providing a supportive, safe, culturally competent space for the community.

This is a rewarding leadership opportunity for someone who can creatively apply the full range of professional skills developed throughout their career.
To be successful within this position you must have tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Community Psychology, Family Therapy or a closely related discipline with demonstrable experience working with and helping to empower disadvantaged and vulnerable clients, ideally within a youth/disability/aged care environment.
As a collaborative and influential decision maker, you will be confident in working with various Centre stakeholders to ensure accurate knowledge sharing and service coordination exists in order to achieve sustainable social and economic outcomes for community members and clients.
You will be confident in engaging with and leading various Centre staff and working alongside members of the local community and council in order to develop participatory planning processes to embed local ownership and build community trust in MoneyMob's services. Resilient, determined and flexible, you will be comfortable working within the context of a remote indigenous community (5 hours from Alice Springs), and have the ability to effectively manage complex interpersonal relationships among diverse groups to achieve community minded and culturally appropriate outcomes.
Above all, to succeed in this position, you must be passionate about supporting Aboriginal social and economic self-determination, and assisting people to find ways to achieve wellbeing, and will bring a desire to coordinate a consultative, vibrant Centre.
Given that this is a newly tendered service, the successful applicant must also possess the creativity, forethought, and reasoned judgement necessary to help the community realise their aspirations for the Centre's services and programs
Please Note: To be eligible for this position you must have a current manual Driver's Licence and access to your own AWD/4WD vehicle for personal use in (and travelling to/from) the Mimili community. A work vehicle is available for use during business hours. Employment will also be subject to a National Police Clearance and Working with Children check.
